In this course, you will learn more about what it means to analyse language for teaching purposes, how to analyse language effectively for teaching, and how this can lead to a positive effect in the classroom.
Language analysis is an area of language teaching which can be quite tricky for teachers regardless of their teaching background. Teachers with a background in linguistics often find that they have an excellent ability to analyse the language itself, but may not be able to relate this to the classroom. Teachers with more general training in education, on the other hand, may be familiar with classroom tasks and applications, but they may lack the depth of knowledge necessary to teach some features of language accurately. And, of course, new teachers may find all of the above challenging, and this can be quite intimidating for those who are transitioning into language education from other backgrounds.
In this course, you will learn more about what it means to analyse language for teaching purposes, how to analyse language effectively for teaching, and how this can lead to a positive effect in the classroom.
This course will help you to become more familiar with the process of analysing language and give you a procedure on how to analyse it — as well as a good start in where to look for features to analyse when you start the CELTA, another teaching qualification course, or your teaching career.
